What does a week of NDIS support actually cost?
Enough people ask this in a spreadsheet at 11pm that we built a calculator for it, and put it on the internet for free: put in the shifts you actually run — the weekday mornings, the evening shift, the Saturday, the public holiday that lands mid-fortnight — and it prices them from the NDIS price guide, line by line, and shows you the week.
No login. No email wall. No "book a demo to see your result."
Why a week, and not an hour
An hourly rate is the wrong unit for the question providers and participants actually have, because almost no real week is one rate.
A support week is a mix. Weekday daytime hours price one way, evenings and nights another, Saturdays and Sundays differently again, and a public holiday differently again. Multiply one hourly figure by the hours in the week and you get a number that is wrong in a direction you cannot predict: too high for a quiet weekday week, badly too low for a week with a weekend and a public holiday in it.
The calculator prices each part of the week as the price guide prices it, and adds them up. That is the whole idea.
It tells you which price guide it used
Every result is stamped with the price-guide era it was calculated against, so you know exactly which rates you are looking at.
That matters because price guide rates change. Inside RosterRoo itself we go a step further than the free page: work that has already happened stays priced under the guide that was in force when the support was delivered — not under today's — because a system that silently uses "the current rates" gives you a confidently wrong answer the moment you ask it about a period that isn't now. The calculator's stamp is the small, public version of the same discipline: the answer is checkable rather than merely produced.
What it does not do
It prices supports at price-guide rates. It is not financial or plan-management advice, and it is not an NDIA document — it does not know how much of your funding has already been spent or claimed, how your plan splits across Core, Capacity Building and Capital, or what other providers have claimed. If your situation has a wrinkle in it, the wrinkle is not in the calculator.
It is also not our product. It is one page that does one sum properly. If you want the platform that runs the roster behind that week — costing every shift for pay and for billing as separate calculations — that is RosterRoo, and it is a different conversation.
Why we made it free
Because the sum is not the product. Any provider can work this out with the price guide, a calendar and an hour they do not have. Charging for arithmetic that the sector needs in order to plan properly would be a strange way to introduce ourselves.
We built it because we needed it ourselves, which is the same reason everything else here exists.
